Nicole Cosgrove

Nicole Cosgrove creates ceramic objects, both functional and fantastical, in her studio in Canberra.

Her latest collection of works has been strongly inspired by play and experimentation.

Each object was initially informed by nature or historical objects, then translated into ceramic art with little attention to the constraints of technical or physical accuracy.

“Letting go of strict technical ceramic practice – such as perfecting glaze coverage or colour evenness - has allowed me to concentrate on embedding each object with its own life and personality,” says Nicole.

“The process of making has actually been more important to me than the finished object.”

Nicole’s work has been shown in several group shows in Yass and she continues to explore the boundaries of clay, glaze and colour.
