🎟 All materials supplied | No experience neededTo mark the closing of the Kim Nelson Retrospective, we’re bringing back The Drawing Room for one very special afternoon at Tyger.
Kim studied life drawing at the Julian Ashton Art School, and many beautiful examples of his figurative works and sketches are featured in this show. It feels like the perfect moment to reopen The Drawing Room, surrounded by his inspiring drawings and paintings.
Led once again by the outstanding artist Sara Phemister, this relaxed life drawing session will feature our returning model Tori Addams, draped in the iconic Red Shawl – a recurring motif in Kim’s work. We’ll use a piece of Red Shawl material that actually hung in Kim’s studio at the Oddfellows’ Hall in the early 2010s.
The Drawing Room is about slowing down, connecting, and celebrating the act of drawing in an open, supportive atmosphere. Whether you’re an experienced artist or picking up a pencil for the first time, you’ll be guided through exercises that explore form, gesture and expression.
This is both a celebration and a commemoration – a chance to create new work in the presence of Kim’s art, and to close his retrospective with a nod to the Red Shawl that became such a powerful part of his legacy.
