Emma O’Connell is an Australian abstract landscape artist based on the Central Coast of NSW, working from her backyard studio. Known for her palette of rust and earth tones, her work is quintessentially Australian – capturing not specific places, but the feeling of this land, its heat, its horizon and its quiet vastness.
Working in acrylic with a signature drip-and-dry technique and a gloss varnish finish, her paintings have a rare quality of transporting the viewer, with collectors often recognising a landscape they know intimately, even though none depict an actual place.
Emma has exhibited in numerous group shows, including a duo exhibition in Newcastle, and has been featured in various print publications. She is represented by Tyger Gallery and Northern Beaches Gallery, and has exhibited at several Affordable Art Fairs across Australia.
