Canberra-based artist Sarah Robinson creates landscapes that feel half remembered. Working with thin, watery layers of paint, she allows forms to emerge, blur and dissolve, producing images that seem both familiar and elusive. Winner of the 2025 Tyger New Ground Award, Robinson exhibited at Affordable Art Fair Brisbane and Melbourne before presenting a solo show at Tyger Gallery in September 2026.

Sarah Robinson is a Canberra-based artist whose paintings explore memory and landscape.
Rather than working from direct observation, she allows feeling and intuition to guide her work. Traces of unspoken narratives, half-remembered scenes and lingering sensations haunt the paintings.
Working with thin, watery paint, Robinson builds her paintings in layers. Forms emerge gradually, while transparent areas reveal the unstable ground beneath. Drips bleed and pool across the canvas, creating a tension between images taking shape and dissolving.
Her works hover between recognition and abstraction, leaving room for viewers to bring their own memories and associations to what they see.
In 2025, Robinson received the Tyger New Ground Award at the ANU School of Art & Design Graduate Exhibition. In 2026, she exhibited at Affordable Art Fair Brisbane and Melbourne and presented a solo show at Tyger Gallery in September.
