  • Kathleen Wigan is an artist originally from Hobart, Tasmania, now based in Sydney. She works with acrylic paint, watercolour and a range of textural media. Her practice is shaped by personal experiences and travel, with an emphasis on respecting space, protecting light, and using intentional marks within each work.

Since returning to Sydney, Wigan has become particularly drawn to the texture and tangibility of natural materials. Her practice reflects a conscious focus on sustainability, recycling, and the importance of minimising waste.

Wigan is currently represented in Brisbane and has participated in a number of annual exhibitions over the past three years. She has been a finalist in several exhibitions and prizes including Rustle, Solstice, Little Big and Foot Square. • “Black and White Wattle is a part of a new series I’m working on “The Distraction of Colour’

“My intention is to draw the viewer deeper into each piece and discover macros of great interest yet find as they step back from the artwork they are moved by simple composition.

“I truly love experimenting with my materials and capturing my feelings about nature.”
