This stunning artwork is ink on wood, 15x15cm and framed in timber.

Valeska says: "The small works are my artistic response to time spent in landscape. They are an abstracted visual representation of my en-plein air experiences."

"My work is directly influenced by Rosalie Gascoigne's works of found objects and manipulation of pieces to form images. Using reclaimed pieces of laminated packing wood, I produced a body of work of 12 small landscapes. Each work encapsulates an subtle emotional response to the experience of being in the landscape."

"Ink was chosen rather than paint to develop the images. Ink having the effect of penetrating the wood rather than sitting on top. Collage of extra fine layers of wood have been incorporated into some images and also the natural artefacts apparent in the wood like the grain, knots and colour have been used as a way to inform the development of each image."
