  • Dotti Le Sage was raised in Sydney, studied and lived in Europe and regional New South Wales. She has now lived in Cootamundra for the past seven years after moving inland from the south Coast of NSW.

New environments stimulate the imagination, offer opportunities to create new colour palettes, investigate surface textures and rhythm of the landscapes.

A devotee of the natural world, new wide landscapes, the botanical environment and the formidable weather provides her with continuous inspiration. She uses her field trips and photographic imagery as source material for drawings, prints and small sculptural pieces.

Collaging various art materials together is a challenge that gratifies.

  • The painting Four Fields conveys a sense of play within the structure of the ancient landscape found in the Artists immediate environment.

The original landforms and vegetation have been reconfigured and manipulated and a new surface has been created by the human hand.

Le Sage has cleverly manipulated the landscape into four fields of vision.

This interplay creates a sense of time passing with the growth and harvesting of crops. A …..’slide show of life’ ……out there.

The subtleties of colour can represent the beginning of a new season or convey the reality that time moves forward and is an intrinsic part of life. The rhythms of day and night, the change of seasons, the planting and harvesting of crops are a part of the cyclical nature of time and history reminding us that everything is subject to change.
