“I hope my work provides a moment of peace amidst life's chaos, like how I feel when I am in nature.” Denise Quah

The brilliant Melbourne-based Denise Quah will be one of the incredible artists in Tyger’s upcoming group show, Living in Another World.

Tyger is delighted to welcome the brilliant Melbourne-based artist Denise Quah to the gallery for our upcoming abstract landscapes show, Living in Another World.

The show brings together around 40 artists from all over the country to show us the world we know and love through an abstracted lens.

Register now for our opening celebrations of Living in Another World - Saturday 20 April, 2-4pm.

Denise’s work in the show is Shifting Sands No.27 - a beautiful example of her earthy, tactile and minimalist style.

Ahead of the show, Denise told us about being inspired by the rugged beauty of nature, and the moment of serenity she hopes viewers will feel seeing the work.

Tell us about where and how you create your work?

“I work from my little home studio in Melbourne. I tend to start in the morning and can spend the whole day in there until I'm needed elsewhere. I'll usually be listening to my favourite podcasts while I paint.”

What inspires you?

“I find inspiration everywhere - my travel, textile, but mainly nature. Growing up on an island, I always feel a strong connection to the beach, water and sand. I love the rugged beauty of nature, the patterns and colours really inspire me.”

What do you hope people feel when they see your work?

“Serenity. I hope my work provides a moment of peace amidst life's chaos like how I feel when I am in nature. I want to inspire those who see my work to look more carefully at the world around them, to discover beauty in unusual places.”

Living in Another World runs from 19-28 April at Tyger Gallery in Yass. The online catalogue for the show will go out to subscribers in the week before opening. Sign up here to make sure you don’t miss out.
